So what is "Fair Use"? Wikipedia defines "Fair Use" as "a U.S. legal doctrine that permits limited use of copyrighted material without acquiring permission from the rights holders." (Wikipedia - Fair Use)
In layman's terms, fair use is the idea that you should be able to use something that someone else created in small amounts, or for certain purposes. For example, you might want to use a clip from a movie if you are critiquing it, or using the clip to explain something in a class. The dilemma is at what point does it infringe on the creator's copyright?
Use the links in the top menu to navigate between the resources and tasks. You do not have to complete them in any order, but it is suggested that you complete Task I and then Task II. You may refer to the resources at any time.
Task I
In Task I you will utilize a website to define terms important to copyright and fair use issues by splitting up into smaller groups. Discuss these terms, and your opinions about them within the larger group.

Task II
In Task II you will build an online yearbook utilizing software of your choice. You should attempt to use as much multimedia as possible from sources you find on the Internet. Check each one to see if it's use is permissible, and explain why.
